Among the lead architects in AvePoint’s Teams rollout, he knows a number of best practices for encouraging adoption in an organization. For the first part of this Microsoft Teams Rollout series, let’s interact with him to obtain the good, unhealthy, and also the awesome of moving out Microsoft Teams at APS!

To obtain began, please inform us just a little regarding your background the way you reached where you stand today.

I’ve been with AvePoint for around 6 years. I began out as a Technical Solutions Professional, then grew to become a Solutions Architect. I then transitioned towards the services side of the home to begin in the Mid-Market Services division. Now I’m back around the product side as the Solutions Engineering Manager for Public Sector.

Your rollout is mature and it has seen multiple iterations. Take us through an average workday in Microsoft Teams.

We’ve transitioned AvePoint Public Sector to function almost solely through Microsoft Teams. The sales &amp technical teams exclusively use Microsoft Teams to talk with each other. I typically help with coordinating on technical technique for possibilities with this sales &amp tech teams. So, we heavily leverage channels and threads to help keep those opportunity conversations straight.

Chance files are kept in the backend SharePoint site. We take our chance notes in OneNote, and that’s presented via Microsoft Teams. My team also facilitates “lunch and learns” twice a week, so an average workday would come with running that meeting via Microsoft Teams and making use of the automatic posting of the recording via Microsoft Stream feature.

How was AvePoint Public Sector collaborating before Microsoft Teams?

Not to sound excessively dramatic, but I don’t really remember the way we collaborated before Microsoft Teams. We definitely used to use Skype for Business, of course. There is also lots of cc’ing via email. It had been really nearly impossible to find a feeling of a “virtual community,” especially because we are a regionally-spread team. So, with team people travelling and dealing on a variety of possibilities, it had been very dispersed and silo’d. Feeling certain that you had the “complete” picture on an opportunity discussion was difficult.

What was the primary objective for the rollout and just how did you consider your organization chart &amp stakeholders?

Ironically, the purpose of our rollout in AvePoint Public Sector was because it had been “rolled out” in the top. There wasn’t really guidance. We had 10-15 teams produced by folks who had used them for those various kinds of reasons. After searching in internet marketing and thinking about what assets were actually generated having a Team, I began to determine there were some obvious explanations why you’d require a team and why you might not need one.

We started a procedure thinking about what objects in Microsoft Teams mapped with this business. For instance, we are a sales driven organization. So we naturally have sales people and opportunities that those sales people own. So, for us it made sense to design our channels round the salesforce. Then when a new opportunity begins, we produce a new thread within the funnel for your sales repetition. We possess a couple other channels too: a understanding funnel, a funnel for that engineers, along with a couple others.

That which was the procedure to obtain “Executive Buy-In” for your rollout?

I walked in the office! Haha. But seriously, we possess a “Let’s provide a try” type of culture here. It was something which we had rapidly getting beyond control and potentially becoming “just another application.” By putting some structure around it we managed to dramatically increase our adoption rate. Also, by folding in certain processes, team updates, and meetings, the executive team really permitted us to create it part of our culture.

What’s one factor you want there is an simpler workaround for?

I actually do wish there is a Microsoft Bot to interface dynamics in some way. Some way to drag in fields making modifications to entities easily would do well.

Who’re the folks that help you to get things done, and how can you talk to them on Microsoft Teams?

My team communicates in our Solutions Engineer funnel for additional formal updates. We have an organization chat for more one-off topics and as a “safe space.” We make use of the sales team’s channels to speak about their opportunities. I additionally have all of the 1:1 chats with each of my team members favorited too. Outdoors of AvePoint Public Sector, I possess a chat choosing all of those other North America engineering managers too.

Q&ampA: Supercharging Microsoft Teams with NEW SharePoint Features

What’s your very best Microsoft Teams hack or shortcut?

Search filtering. It’s a effective tool when done properly. Also, linking straight to a thread. Now, we are able to range from the relevant chats about an opportunity in dynamics as links!

Complete the blank: I’d like to see ___answer the same questions.

Stephanie Donahue or Mark Rackley from PAIT Group!

Can there be other things you would like to include that could be interesting to a person going to undergo a Microsoft Teams rollout?

Once you’ve determined your approach, write it lower, create a PowerPoint, and then create a video. Train they with the PowerPoint, publish the write-on Microsoft Teams, but for the people that shouldn’t read—send them the recording. You need to continue improving the training process. Also, make sure to observe how much Microsoft 365 you are able to integrate to your team. Consolidation rules.
