Microsoft Teams is both a thing and product name. Exactly the same applies for Groups, as with Office 365 Groups. This turns into a challenge when talking about a real team of people that are now using Teams his or her collaboration method.
The task then becomes: how should name controls be enforced? While each degree, course and module have a distinctive code, there are lots of things across an establishment that don’t come under exactly the same type of reference.
Out-of-the-box, Office 365 offers the opportunity to enforce a naming policy to assistance with communicating the part of the group, membership, geographic region, or who produced the audience.
This method adds whether prefix or suffix (or both) and it is applied over the entire Office 365 tenant – and therefore all teams within the institution are restricted to getting exactly the same settings put on them. This presents challenging for just about any greater education institution which has several faculty – that is usually the situation.
Teams in Education Guidelines
It wouldn’t be well suited for all Teams to possess a name prefix of “TEAM –” because this is incredibly broad. Having the ability to leverage different prefixes enables institutions to employ a naming convention that’s tailored to the requirements of that exact institution.
For instance, “BUS” because the prefix for that business faculty, “STAFF” because the prefix for faculty teams, and so forth. The advantage for users is the opportunity to filter team directory listings according to these prefixes that is especially advantageous in large institutions.
So how exactly does naming operate in different scenarios? Where collaborative spaces are produced in Microsoft Teams that report to some code-based item like a degree, course, or module – that’s fine. What occur in scenarios outdoors of this? Types of this is: study groups, campus clubs, clubs across multiple campuses, faculty initiatives, studies, and a variety of functional or virtual teams.
