From September 26-30, I’d the pleasure of joining 23,000 people from the Microsoft ecosystem in Atlanta, GA, for the second annual Microsoft Ignite. The varied crowd from all over the world incorporated IT pros, developers, executive leaders, business users, in addition to Microsoft staff and community influencers.
It had been a fantastic week for AvePoint, where, like a Platinum Sponsor from the event, we established a powerful presence through the show, celebrated with customers and partners at our famous RED Party, and sent another lucky champion home having a completely new Ducati motorcycle. The theme we introduced in the show was accelerate – also it wasn’t since the bike we gave away could possibly get as much as 120 mph. Through the show, we’d some good conversations with attendees about how exactly our solutions can accelerate their Office 365 and SharePoint migration, management, and protection goals while driving faster, safer, and governed adoption from the Microsoft Cloud.
After attending last year’s Ignite and lots of of their previous incarnations years back, I’m able to state that Ignite 2016 did a fantastic job showcasing the exciting new directions Microsoft is moving under its new “digital transformation” mantra and just how the ecosystem is trending together with it. Here are three of my greatest takeaways in the event.
Ignite has ended: Here’s Your Best Guide to What’s Next
1. SharePoint gets some well-deserved buzz again, and Office 365 isn’t losing any steam
After not receiving just as much attention finally year’s event, SharePoint performed a significant role in Ignite 2016. Additionally to countless sessions around the subject, Microsoft shared some major bulletins – such as the first Feature Pack for SharePoint 2016, new mobile phone applications, security enhancements, and new sync and share abilities for OneDrive. Our very own Dux Raymond Sy, CTO of AvePoint Public Sector, hit the show floor with mic in hands to obtain the word on what’s new from Microsoft luminaries – including Corporate Vice Presidents Julia White-colored and Shaun Teper – in the Dux Quax video series. Among the first SharePoint ISVs returning fifteen years now, it’s exciting for all of us at AvePoint to determine Microsoft keep significant investments within the platform once we still innovate alongside them.
Obviously, Office 365 wasn’t any decreased a subject through the event. Most of the conversations we’d involved the emphasis Microsoft is placing on Office 365 Groups and just how this key new feature is which makes it even simpler for internal and exterior users in an organization to collaborate within the cloud. Obviously, you may still find concerns around Office 365 Group creation sprawling from IT’s control and protecting critical data within them. To assist organizations eliminate these concerns, we were able to show how our AvePoint Online Services solution now delivers lifecycle management and backup and restore abilities for Office 365 Groups.
2. Organizations are eager to get at the cloud, but it isn’t always the paradise they thought it might be once they make it happen
Moving to Office 365 would be a hot subject at our booth and elsewhere – particularly with Microsoft FastTrack helping organizations change from previous versions of SharePoint and file shares. At AvePoint, we’re also helping organizations using these scenarios in addition to individuals that should exercise complex workloads from legacy ECM systems like Lotus Notes, EMC Documentum, Livelink, FileNet, Stellent, HP TRIM, Google Docs, and much more. It’s simpler than in the past to get at the cloud and get it done fast. Make no mistake about this: We’re still greatly within the cloud adoption phase and it is not likely to slow lower in the near future.
Following a week filled with cloud roadmap consultation sessions that stored our booth meeting rooms occupied whatsoever occasions, we still heard a typical sentiment from attendees: Beneath all the hype, the cloud isn’t always as easy as it states be. Data management pains remain, and concerns like governance and knowledge security are surface of mind for that enterprise. This is when AvePoint is available in like a reliable consultant. For a long time now, we’ve been tackling these challenges with a few of the largest and many complex customers and taking individuals learnings – in addition to telemetry data from greater than 5 million cloud users – to constantly evolve our methods to simplify management and protection both in cloud and hybrid scenarios.
3. The seller space is prospering, because of the cloud
It had been great to determine so much more vendors fill the Expo Hall this season, and from ISVs to providers, they demonstrated the variety and of the present Microsoft ecosystem. Point about this growth is due to the cloud, that is enabling new companies to obtain began and scale faster than in the past with less sources needed. For AvePoint, this thriving and invigorated vendor space brings exciting possibilities for brand new partnerships.
I was very happy to announce a brand new partnership with custom code analysis experts Rencore which will integrate DocAve Deployment Manager – which will help customers easily schedule, roll back, and audit application deployments towards the cloud – using the SharePoint Code Analysis Framework (SPCAF) solution. Through this integration, customers may also in a position to scan SharePoint customizations before deployment or migration to the Office 365 atmosphere or on-premises farm and identify potential issues and risks towards the atmosphere, operational processes, and knowledge.
Once we await next year’s event in Orlando, we expect to constantly aligning carefully with Microsoft to aid its latest innovations and helping you get much more from your investments within the Microsoft Cloud. To make certain you make the most of Ignite 2016 – regardless of whether you could come along in Atlanta or not – I encourage you to join our Training Learned at Microsoft Ignite web seminar, where our experts will talk about much more of the major bulletins in the conference and just what they mean for the organization.
